Alan represents ARC of Maui County at the State Capitol!

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Hawaii.

For the past 13 years, the State Capitol has held an “Annual Day at the Capitol”. Members of the Hawaii State Council on Developmental Disabilities, including Caregivers, Providers and Client Representatives attended this event.

Alan traveled to Oahu with two ARC staff to a meeting hosted by Lt. Governor Shan Tsutsui. They discussed items in the budget relating to services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities. Alan spoke to the Maui Senators, Gill Keith Agaran and J. Kalani English and told them how much he enjoys living at his ARC Residence and enjoys the activities he does in the community. He said he hopes the that 2013 budget will allow him to continue with his current lifestyle.

The national theme “Look Beyond” for 2013, encourages people to reach out and get to know someone with a disability & recognize the attributes they bring to the community.
